She Crossed The Line. Mums Annoying Me! I’m Moving Out

flik eco finance moving out of mums house

Who the hell hoovers at 8am on a Sunday Morning? My mum, that’s who. It’s like she is trying to catch the dust & dirt hungover & way too tired. Or am I just talking about myself?

I’ve had enough, enough of the hoovering, enough of her shrill voice, enough of her switching off every light behind me & enough of having to use my vibrator on its lowest setting so I don’t wake her up. Screw her! Or do I just need to be screwed?

What I didn’t realise is that if I want to avoid sharing a windowless room in a house with 8 other unwashed, underpaid gig workers, I would need to get my credit score sorted. And by sorted I mean “not crap”.

Whether I want to rent a lovely little flat just off Broadway Market in Hackney or buy myself a little flat I can fill with plants, I need to have a decent credit score.

Moaning and dreaming aside, how do I get this illusive decent credit score? Funny how Mr Charles my Year 10 Maths Teacher spent months banging on about Pythagoras Theorem & told us nothing about credit or personal finance.

A2 + B2 = C me live with my mum until I am 40.

5 Ways to Quickly Improve Your Credit Score

Get On The Electoral Roll

I didn’t realise how easy it was to jump on the Electoral Roll. You can find out more about how to do it here: What’s This Electoral Roll Business?

Landlords & Mortgage Lenders use the information on the Electoral Roll to check your identity and make sure your name and address are up to date & correct.

Pop Open a Bank Account

Open a bank account using an app like Monzo, it will improve your credit score by showing lenders that you can manage your finances responsibly. Just stay way below your overdraft limit.

Grab a Credit Card

Getting a credit card, paying it off on time and in full each month will help you build a great credit history and quickly improve your credit score.

The key here is to make sure you pay your balance off in full each and every month.

Take Out a Small Credit Line

One of the quickest ways to start building your credit & improving your credit score is to take out something like a small mobile phone contract or a store card. Just pay your bills in full, each month and it will start to improve your credit score.

Set Up Direct Debits For Your Bills

Late bills can end up with defaults and CCJs being added to your credit report, these absolutely kill your credit score. CCjs & defaults pretty much mean you have to spend the next 6 years listening to your mum hoover and sing church songs badly at 8am on a Sunday morning. Just go to church and leave me alone woman!

Set up direct debits for your bills to make sure you never have late or missed payments.

So if you want to move out quickly and turn your vibrator to full speed with suction…try those 5 tips to quickly improve your credit score.
